Tray
Tray has been part of the Mid-Michigan K9 Academy family for a year and five months, and in that time he’s helped transform countless dogs’ lives. He thrives when working with challenging cases, always pushing dogs to see their true potential. Tray especially loves training in bite work and proudly represents MMK9A during our exciting demonstrations. A huge milestone for him recently—he fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his favorite breed, the Belgian Malinois, by adopting one of MMK9A’s very own all-star puppies. Tray’s dedication, drive, and love for the craft make him an incredible part of our team!
Heather
Heather is our Managing Trainer at our Saginaw location. With two and a half years of psychology studies and four years of experience in autism behavior analysis, Heather eventually found their passion in dog training. When Jim and Dee welcomed her to MMK9A, she quickly proved her dedication and ability, hitting the ground running. In just five months, that drive and commitment earned her a management role within the company. MMK9A has had a life-changing impact, and Heather is always excited to welcome the next student and help them succeed.
JAMES
Jason joined the Mid-Michigan K9 Academy family just one month ago, but his story with dogs started long before that. During his 15 years in the system, Jason dedicated 13 of those years to the dog training program—working with puppies and rescues, helping them learn, grow, and find forever homes. After completing his sentence, Jason wasted no time. Within two weeks, he had an interview with us at MMK9A, and he’s been sharpening his skills with us ever since. His patience, consistency, and heart for the dogs shine through in every training session. Jason is a true example of our Redemption Crew—a living testament to second chances, growth, and the power of purpose.
AMANDA
Amanda brings a lifetime of experience with her. Practically born into the dog world, Amanda has been breeding and training since she was a little girl—and she’s never stopped. For ten years, she ran her own grooming business, has worked as a vet tech, and has trained countless show dogs along the way. With ten dogs of her own at home, Amanda lives and breathes what she teaches. Her deep knowledge of dog health, safety, and training makes her an invaluable part of our team. And if you ask her what her favorite breed is? Without hesitation—the American Staffordshire Terrier.
